// Queer Up North

In 2008 and 2009 I worked as an Associate Producer for Queer Up North International Festival, programming a series of literature events including readings from Augusten Burroughs, Jackie Kay, and Paul Bailey as well as assisting on headlining events like Sandra Bernhard’s ‘Without You I’m Nothing’.

Dance and debate, clubs and comedy, literature and live art, plays and puppetry – just some of the experiences on offer since 1992 at Manchester’s international festival of queer arts and culture, Queer Up North.

Queer Up North began life as ‘It’s Queer Up North’ in 1992, when it was founded by Tanja Farman and Gavin Barlow and finally presented its last festival in 2010. In its time, it played host to a number of internationally renowned LGBT artists and companies including Split Britches, Justan Vivian Bond, Taylor Mac, Penny Arcade, and Kate Bornstein.
